As a festival of speed, Forza Horizon 2 succeeds in almost every way. With such a strong offering of cars and events, and a gorgeous environment that feels more like a holiday destination than a game location, there's strength and beauty in Playground Games' second lap. On top, there's a stronger multiplayer offering, complete with whole Road Trip events to share with your friends, which take advantage of the game's spaciousness, the day/night cycle and dynamic weather additions. Add in the ability to start clubs and race socially and you have some real longevity here .

One of my top 2 favorites of seven xbox one race games I play. Great graphics and scenery, very good car steering response. About ten times superior to the xbox 360 version in graphics and steering response. The graphics are very close to as good, although it's an earlier game by 2 or 3 years. It's relaxed fun, while offering just enough challenge to keep your interest.

The game's off-roading style of racing isn't some kind of silver bullet that automatically makes playing the game fun, but it's part of that essence that's so easy to enjoy but hard to fully grasp. 'Forza Horizon 2' brings over so many features from 'Forza 5,' it can be startling. Plus, as with every time you drive a car, be it for leisure or competition, you earn style points which can eventually unlock skill points to spend on perks. Among new features in the game are "Bucket Lists", three groups of timed challenges for the player to complete, similar to the 1000 Club in Forza Horizon. These challenges are continuously updated to provide new challenges throughout the map.

Car Meets are an online mode where players can meet up online and compare their cars, similar to "Forzavista" mode in Forza Motorsport 5. Players are also able to interact with each other in Car Meets, including sharing tuning setups and liveries. In the online version of the game, races such as circuits, sprints, and cross country are playable against other players, along with other game types such as Infected and King. The game also takes the players through hilly and snowy sites which can be quite challenging to drive especially in games like racing.

The game released various downloadable packs of the contents required in a racing car. But there's plenty of variety and additional surprises that we don't want to spoil here. Let's just say it's worth you deviating from the beaten path from time to time. Unlike other racing games however, nitrous can only be used during most of the game's events, and only replenishes at the very start of said events. Virus was a great addition, with one player being infected and charged with crashing into other players, infecting them; being the one uninfected car was a frantic experience, as you tried to escape being rammed.

I drive like an utter arse in most racing games, cutting corners and driving through sand traps and chicanes so I can gain an advantage while the rest of the AI racers have play it straight and follow the rules. Forza Horizon 2 simply embraces the cheatin' bastard ethic and accepts that if there are corners to be cut, and fields to be driven across to shave seconds off your race time, you're going to do it. Everything stated in the review can be applied to the online mode with the exception of the Rewind feature and ANNA . Car Meets work well, and the game seems to take into account that some players have a Club full a friends to always drive with while others are good with sharing free roam online with whomever. The big caveat is that the online, Drivatars, Rivals, Clubs, Leaderboards, etc. will all mushroom to a massive extent once the game releases and thereby will realized when I was online. In this game, the players will have to drive and explore to progress in the game.

The car racing events in this game take place both in the morning and night. The new feature that was developed in this game is the 'Bucket lists'. Car analogies aside, it's an interesting time for racing games. The power of the next-generation consoles and prospect of gamers being permanently hooked up to the internet have both expanded the playing field somewhat. Other games have tried the always-online open-world format before, such as Test Drive Unlimited and Burnout Paradise, but they sometimes flattered to deceive, mainly because of the hardware they were restricted to.

Other social aspects include the usual online competitive multiplayer, a Free Roam mode that lets you enjoy relaxing road trips, and Car Clubs, where you compare car specs with other players. You can even buy another driver's car if you like the way it's tuned. That distinction is important in Horizon 2, because so much of the fun comes outside of races. The structure of the campaign is similar to the first game, but a couple of changes have shifted the way you progress. You still work through a mishmash of different events to progress to the next wristband level, but this time you travel between hub areas that add their own new events into the mix.

To ascend to the next level you go on a Road Trip – a lengthy drive from one area to the next, through day and night, rain or shine. Not long before launch - when most people had already bought the game - Turn 10 quickly announced that FH2-360 would receive no DLC. All these people who have just bought this game have been told that it would receive no post-launch support.

The car list also included a lot of cars that were from FH1 and FM4 and not FM5 and the Xbox One version. This was done simply to get to the advertised 200 cars. It was nice because some of those cars have never reappeared in the series and it seemed like a 'best of' Forza, but bad because they were filling the car list with cars from older games. Yes, they did this by removing the golf course, but you can't drive on it anyway in the 360 version, so no matter.

I've already poured many, many hours into Forza Horizon 2, and I finished the main championship last night. But that won't be the end of my involvement in the game – not by a long shot. I can't wait to sink my teeth into the multiplayer online community and car club aspects of the game. They essentially form an endgame that I know I'll be playing for months to come.

Like everything else in the game, it's very well thought through, and packs all sorts of peer-to-peer challenges and activities. I simply cannot see why the game won't garner a vibrant and engaged community that'll be active for the foreseeable future. Another part of 'Forza Horizon 2' that just seems like a bullet point on the box until it's in action, is the Skills system. This game stresses that the player drive with style, and for doing all of these stylish racings things skillfully, the game awards skills points and XP.

Whether carefully squeezing past an opponent, drifting around a curve, mowing over a hedge, getting some hang time, or smoothly sustaining a high speed, the game is scoring and awarding the player. Exhibiting skills and not smashing into everything will net the player a Skill Chain with multiplier that is partly fueled by sustained clean racing. Forza Horizon 2 is available for Xbox One and Xbox 360, though the versions differ.

Weather effects are exclusive to the Xbox One version, as are some of the cars, as well as Drivatars. Drivatars first appeared in Forza Motorsport 5 for the Xbox One; each player has one that mimics his or her driving preferences, and you can come across your friends' Drivatars when you're playing online.
